11. For the multi-taskers: stick with the stuff you already know
Multi-tasking is tempting (who doesn’t want more time in their day?)
If it’s your thing, multi-tasking is best reserved for times when you are doing routine activities that are easy and repetitive, for example: household tasks (cooking, washing dishes, hanging washing), driving, gardening, colouring-in (great for kids) etc.
The type of music practice you do when multi-tasking needs to be similarly easy and/or repetitive. Don’t go trying to build brand-new skills when multi-tasking!
While multi-tasking doesn’t have the same benefit as 100% pure focus (what you need when learning new skills), some maintain that it’s still better than doing no practice. You’ll know if it works for you.
And of course, for your daily warm-up…there is always the shower!
