7. Be geographically flexible.
You can practice music at any time, in any place just by thinking about it or imagining yourself doing it. Your brain still ‘lights up’.
One of my students went on holidays during the week prior to her concert. She took her sheet music and imagined herself playing through her piano pieces every day. When she returned, she was delighted to find that her performance had actually improved!
Of course, you can always take it one step further and organise your materials for portable practice. For example: paper keyboards, cardboard fret-boards (if air-guitar isn’t your style), a mini keyboard or load some mp3s onto your phone for practicing scales-on-the-run.
Give it a go…you may be pleasantly surprised!
